Missed opportunity

This review has been rated 1 stars

I had very high expectations of this book, but was sadly disappointed. To be fair, I know of others who rate it highly, but I found the book to be easy to put down and difficult to pick up. Superficially a call to arms for the creative community and an antidote to our money dominated society, there are some interesting excerpts, particularly around how the creative commons work within the scientific community, but I found the book resembled a collection of loosely connected chapters rather than a coherent defence of the value of creative contribution in our society. The question of how we value art and creativity in our society is an interesting one and I was glad that Hyde did not limit his definition of creativity purely to the Arts, but the author meanders without making a forceful case for defence.
