Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers of our time. His books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide, pointing to legions of devoted fans. And yet the literary establishment remains divided on his merit. Although he won the National Book Award, he felt compelled to defend his right to be there, since many of the literati heckled him from the sidelines. Not all SK books were created equal. Some, like Cujo, the author claims to have no memory of writing, as he was strung out on chemicals. Some, like The Stand, are full of lousy sentences, but are still beloved by many. And others are -- just -- perfect. Here are my personal faves.
